Site Engineer

About the Role

The Site Engineer is a pivotal professional responsible for the technical supervision and accurate execution of construction projects. This role involves detailed surveying, setting out, and ensuring that building designs are precisely implemented on site. An essential combination of technical knowledge, organizational ability, and leadership is required to facilitate smooth project delivery while upholding stringent quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Duties

• Serve as the primary technical consultant on site for subcontractors, artisans, and laborers.
• Conduct site surveys, establish setting out, and perform leveling to ensure design plans are accurately mapped to site positions.
• Scrutinize and validate project plans, drawings, and quantity metrics to confirm accuracy.
• Guarantee that all materials and workmanship fulfill the defined project specifications and quality benchmarks.
• Handle the selection, requisition, and economical procurement of construction materials.
• Review and interpret contract design documentation provided by clients or architects.
• Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and workforce to streamline project tasks.
• Engage with local regulatory bodies to ensure conformity with construction laws and regulations.
• Report project status to clients and their representatives regularly through meetings and documentation.
• Manage daily site functions including supervising labor and subcontractor activities.
• Plan and organize site equipment and facilities to meet project milestone deadlines efficiently.
• Administer quality assurance procedures and enforce health and safety compliance on site.
• Compile and submit reports regarding site progress and potential issues promptly.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience as a Site Engineer or in an equivalent construction-related position.
• Strong expertise in surveying techniques, site setting out, and construction operations.
• Skilled in interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of local building codes, health and safety guidelines, and quality assurance standards.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities for coordination with various stakeholders.
• Experience in managing contract documents and controlling project costs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise site teams effectively.
• Familiarity with construction-related software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, or equivalent is advantageous.
• Meticulous attention to detail combined with a dedication to enforcing safety and quality on site.
