Senior/Staff Data Platform Engineer

Role Summary

The Data Platform Engineer will lead the design, development, and management of a cloud-native data platform built primarily on Snowflake and public cloud services. This role encompasses full responsibility for the platform’s lifecycle, including cloud environment setup, data lake and warehouse architecture, transformation workflows, security, and data accessibility across the organization.

Key Duties

• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure resources such as storage, networking, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Architect and oversee the Snowflake platform as the company's unified data lake and warehouse solution.
• Implement and enforce robust data access policies, including encryption, network, and IAM controls.
• Develop and maintain dbt models with Git version control across multiple data layers including staging and production.
• Establish platform-wide standards and best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and consumption.

Experience and Skills Required

• Proven hands-on experience with major public cloud platforms—AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure—covering storage, networking, and access management.
• Strong expertise in Snowflake administration, including role-based access control (RBAC), data sharing, external table usage, and leveraging Snowpark.
• Proficiency in dbt (Core or Cloud) for model creation, testing, and documentation.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform for orchestrating cloud resource provisioning.
• Experience working with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Snowflake Scheduling or Apache Airflow.

Scope of Responsibility

• Manage end-to-end cloud data platform design, provisioning, and operation from raw data ingestion zones to refined analytics-ready layers, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
• Maintain the architecture of the unified data warehouse and lake, including performance optimization, resource allocation, and cost controls.
• Oversee the transformation workflow from initial design to production deployment, ensuring accuracy, completeness, testing, and documentation of data models.
• Drive the adoption of standards across data ingestion, transformation, and access, and continuously enhance platform tooling and architecture as requirements evolve.
