Position Overview

The Data Platform Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, building, and managing a cloud-native data platform centered on Snowflake and public cloud services. This position oversees the entire data platform lifecycle — from provisioning environments and structuring the data lake to managing transformation workflows, enforcing security, and facilitating data sharing — thereby ensuring reliable, governed, and scalable data availability throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure including storage, network configurations, and identity and access management (IAM) on major public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Architect and maintain Snowflake as a unified data lake and warehouse platform for the company.
• Implement and enforce data access controls through encryption, IAM policies, and Snowflake network configurations.
• Develop and maintain data transformation models using dbt with version control systems across staging and production environments.
• Establish platform standards and best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and consumption.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proficient hands-on experience with at least one leading public cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) covering storage, networking, and access management.
• Strong expertise in Snowflake administration including role-based access control (RBAC), data sharing mechanisms, external table usage, and Snowpark.
• Skilled in using dbt (Core or Cloud) for model creation, testing, and documentation.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform for provisioning cloud resources.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Snowflake Scheduling or Apache Airflow for pipeline management.

Scope of Ownership

• End-to-end responsibility for designing, provisioning, and operating cloud data platforms encompassing raw ingestion to polished analytics-ready layers, focused on reliability, scalability, and cost management.
• Maintain unified data warehouse and lake architectures, ensuring performance optimization, resource oversight, cost control, and adapting the platform as organizational data demands evolve.
• Own the entire data transformation pipeline, ensuring design quality, comprehensive testing, and accurate documentation suitable for all downstream applications.
• Lead platform-wide standards development related to data handling processes, evaluate tooling, and guide architectural decisions as the platform advances.
