Job Overview
This position entails overseeing the receipt and management of returned materials from various departments and sites, ensuring their condition is carefully verified. Returned items are classified for reuse, repair, recycling, or disposal following approved procedures. Continuous updating and management of surplus inventory data using warehouse management or ERP systems is required. Coordination with relevant departments to determine the optimal method for utilizing surplus materials is key.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the receipt of returned materials from various departments and locations, verifying their status.
- Classify returned materials into categories: reusable, repairable, recyclable, or for disposal per set protocols.
- Manage surplus inventory and regularly update records in warehouse or ERP systems.
- Collaborate with concerned departments to optimize the use of surplus materials.
- Prepare periodic reports analyzing returns and surplus, identifying causes, and recommending corrective measures.
- Oversee procedures for sale, transfer, or redistribution of surplus materials following organizational policies.
- Conduct regular inventory audits of returned and surplus items, resolving any discrepancies.
- Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations when handling damaged or hazardous materials.
- Participate in developing and upgrading return management procedures and improving material lifecycle efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators related to returns, aiming to reduce storage costs and waste.
- Ensure occupational health and safety standards are followed within warehouses.
- Supervise document management related to returns and material disposition.
- Contribute to process improvement efforts, enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing losses.
- Monitor obsolete or damaged materials and propose effective solutions for their management.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and controls.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a minimum of three years’ experience in warehouse or inventory management, preferably with practical knowledge in handling returns and surplus materials.
Preferred candidates will have experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics and possess supervisory or leadership experience.
