Job Purpose
The Global Data Management (GDM) function aims to create a unified data source within core business systems and applications to enable accurate transactions and analytics, turning data into a valuable company asset. This includes managing various data types such as reference data, master data, content, analytics, social and big data, along with their governance, lifecycle, and technology considerations aligned with the company’s strategy.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Verify that master data is accurate, complete, appropriately approved, and adheres to internal and external standards throughout its lifecycle; manage release or rejection requests with constructive feedback.
- Ensure adherence to data processing cycle times and related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor and report on data performance metrics to supervisors regularly.
- Perform data analysis within systems to support business functions and assist in resolving data-related issues.
- Develop and produce reports on data quality and oversee data cleansing initiatives.
- Contribute to relevant projects supporting data management goals.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX regulations within GDM governance processes.
- Create and maintain documentation related to data management including procedures, policies, manuals, and training materials.
- Identify and implement enhancements to data governance processes, tools, or systems upon approval.
- Participate in audits by cooperating with internal and external auditors, providing requested information promptly.
- Conduct gap-fit analyses and standardization projects to optimize data definitions, usage, and implementation of standardized values.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with GDM solution users across subsidiaries within scope.
- Engage business function representatives at all organizational levels involved or affected by GDM governance.
- Collaborate with Global and regional GDM domain leaders and teams, CBS Centers, project teams, and IT organizations.
- Coordinate with other relevant stakeholders to address master data conflicts or issues.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum bachelor's degree.
- Familiarity with master data tools and related technologies.
- Knowledge of machine learning and automation tools.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP software.
- At least 2 years of professional experience.
- Proficiency in reporting and budgeting tasks.
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of programming languages such as SQL and Google App Scripts.
- Experience with syndicated market data and analytical data from third-party sources.
- Understanding of the consumer packaged goods industry.
- Insight into Colgate’s processes and analytics-supporting tools (for internal candidates).
- Openness to experimenting with new tools and technologies.
- Strong facilitation and project management capabilities.
- Ability to maintain composure and handle challenging situations tactfully.
