Role Overview
This role involves assisting in the development and management of a comprehensive information security depth-in-defense framework. This framework outlines the technical, procedural, and policy elements necessary to meet the security demands of Unum and its partners. It supports the secure operation of various platforms and applications, including computing systems and networks, ensuring the protection and integrity of information assets.
The Security Analyst will contribute to designing and implementing security solutions that defend Unum's information systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the creation and operation of a multi-layered security defense framework across technology and business environments.
- Maintain the security of operating systems, networks, applications, and platforms to safeguard organizational data.
- Assist with engineering security measures and solutions to prevent unauthorized access or vulnerabilities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in IT engineering, security, or consulting roles, with a minimum of 2 years focused on cybersecurity.
- Ability to work independently within dynamic, fast-moving, and global work environments.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Technical Expertise
- In-depth understanding of operating system security across Windows, Linux/UNIX, macOS, and preferably mainframe systems.
- Comprehensive grasp of application and network security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Practical experience with key security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanning software (e.g., Qualys).
- Background in investigating and managing security incidents and alerts.
- Knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, and wireless communication.
- Familiarity with cryptographic principles, PKI, and identity/access management methodologies.
Preferred Skills and Additional Experience
- Experience working within global security operations or enterprise IT environments.
- Understanding of incident response processes, forensic analysis, and ethical hacking techniques.
- Exposure to identity and access management solutions, endpoint security, and data loss prevention tools.
- Acquaintance with security standards and frameworks such as OWASP, secure SDLC, ISO 27001, and NIST.
- Certifications like CISSP, SANS, or equivalents are advantageous.
