We are seeking a Scientist 1 to join our Reagent Sciences group in Singapore, committed to advancing science and technology boundaries to improve human health.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct scientific research and development focused on reagent stabilization, including formulation and lyophilization process characterization, aimed at enhancing sequencing reagents used in NGS and microarray products.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary R&D team to develop novel sequencing methods and enhance consumable reagent performance, stability, and robustness.
- Independently plan and execute experiments of moderate to high complexity using diverse laboratory techniques.
- Record detailed observations and maintain comprehensive documentation in laboratory notebooks and digital platforms.
- Manage lab processes such as equipment stewardship to support smooth operations.
- Generate technical reports and communicate findings effectively to local management.
- Apply and explain statistical approaches to inform experimental decisions.
- Support team collaboration and contribute constructively within cross-functional groups.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven laboratory proficiency with ability to design and conduct experiments with controls, troubleshoot problems, and interpret complex data sets.
- Strong collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.
- Capable of adapting communication styles suitably for different audiences and environments.
- Preferred candidates hold a B.Sc. or B.Eng. in biochemistry, biochemical or chemical engineering, biomaterials, or related disciplines.
- Experience in biochemical, pharmaceutical, or chemical industry settings is advantageous.
- Familiarity with enzymes used in NGS sample preparation or methylation assays (e.g., transposases, ligases, TET or APOBEC) is beneficial.
- Experience with lyophilization processes or processing at large scales (20 liters or more) such as cell culture or fermentation is a plus.
- Knowledge of protein biochemistry, structural engineering, and experience with Next Generation Sequencing is desirable but not mandatory.
