Role overview
We are seeking a Safety Technician in Canada to support safety operations within a large public transit setting. The work is focused on maintaining compliance, tracking incident follow-ups, and helping strengthen safety programs across field and office teams. This position is suited to someone who enjoys a mix of analytical work, documentation, coordination, and hands-on collaboration in a fast-moving, service-oriented environment.
The role is centered on helping safety specialists and operational teams manage investigations, inspections, corrective actions, and internal communications. It plays an important part in keeping safety standards consistent across daily transit operations that serve a large urban population.
Key accountabilities
- Monitor corrective actions tied to safety investigations and facility inspection findings, and ensure follow-up items are properly tracked.
- Support safety investigations, site inspections, and field visits, including work across different shifts as needed.
- Create and circulate safety reports, KPI dashboards, and summary analysis for leadership.
- Maintain investigation records, document repositories, and internal systems used for safety reporting and communication.
- Help develop and update safety communications, job aids, and content shared with operational teams and on internal intranet channels.
- Review safety data using basic statistical and trend-analysis methods to help guide decisions.
- Keep documentation accurate and ensure outstanding safety and compliance issues are followed through to closure.
- Contribute ideas and support improvements to safety processes, reporting methods, and program tools.
