Job description
Role Overview
The Risk Management Specialist is responsible for coordinating risk and mitigation efforts within the project portfolio, focusing on interactions among major projects and various internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the representative of Project Portfolio Management (PPM) in coordination activities with major projects and other departments, reviewing planning, work progress, and drilling programs.
- Act as the main liaison for aligning priorities with departments such as QA, Engineering, Health, Safety & Environment, Contracts & Procurement, Field Operations, Drilling, and Technical Logging.
- Interface with various entities to address challenges for timely project execution during early phases, supporting positive results.
- Follow up on issues arising from coordination meetings and propose mitigation solutions for interface challenges.
- Identify project risks, suggest mitigation and recovery measures, and develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for risk monitoring.
- Conduct risk assessments, formulate contingency plans, and assist project managers in implementing risk management strategies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation on risk processes and results and monitor risk exposure trends.
- Support internal and external audits, project joint committee reviews, quality assurance/control, and drive methodology improvements.
- Utilize Project Definition Rating Index from PR2 to identify milestones and liquidated damages within contracts or scope change notices.
- Ensure project performance KPIs and objectives incorporate risks and opportunities, deriving data-driven insights to influence schedules, costs, and margins.
- Continuously analyze and respond proactively to emerging threats and uncertainties in projects.
- Balance risk-taking with long-term objective achievement through benefit analysis and informed decision-making.
- Recommend support for project process and procedure improvements.
- Collect and share lessons learned and project benchmarks locally and with other entities to enhance project delivery and collaboration.
- Provide ongoing feedback to contractors to improve partnerships and project execution across different assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Primavera P6 (Monte Carlo simulation), and Safran software.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in oil and gas with technical expertise across onshore, offshore, and deep offshore operations.
- Additional certifications such as PMBOK, PMP, Kaizen, or Lean Management belt are advantageous.
