Regional Scheduling Advisor

About the Role

This full-time, fixed-term position based in South Auckland runs until 30 June 2027. As a Regional Scheduling Advisor, you will play a vital role in enhancing the justice system's efficiency and accessibility for the South Auckland community by ensuring judicial resources and court time are optimally allocated.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain court schedules that adapt proactively to changing demands and judicial priorities.
• Provide support in decisions regarding the allocation of judicial time and court resources, balancing operational needs with judicial priorities.
• Analyze scheduling and operational performance data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for operational improvements.
• Advise Court Managers, Judicial Resource Managers, Executive Judges, and relevant stakeholders on scheduling and operational issues with trusted expertise.
• Foster strong partnerships within courts, leadership teams, and judiciary to promote unified approaches and shared goals.
• Participate in regional and national projects aimed at enhancing scheduling practices, resource use, and service delivery outcomes.
• Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to address complex scheduling conflicts and competing priorities.
• Drive continuous improvement by converting insights and feedback into actionable enhancements to operational performance.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven experience utilizing data and operational insights for informed decision-making and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Capability to transform complex or competing requirements into practical, tailored solutions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement talents including influencing, consensus building, and managing diverse viewpoints.
• Confidence in independent work complemented by a positive contribution to collaborative team efforts.
• Demonstrated judgment balancing multiple priorities in fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional justice sector or court environments.
• Adaptability to change and commitment to working in a national framework complemented by excellent interpersonal and service-oriented skills.
• Possession of a full driver's license and willingness to travel regionally, sometimes requiring overnight stays.

About the Ministry

At Te Tāhū o te Ture - Ministry of Justice, we are dedicated to enhancing public trust in New Zealand’s legal system. The Regional Scheduling Advisor will join the National Scheduling team within the Regional Service Delivery Courts and Tribunals division, working closely with the judiciary and senior court leadership to ensure consistency and effectiveness nationwide while respecting local priorities.

Salary and Application Details

The salary range offered for this role is NZD 85,562 to NZD 109,862 annually, commensurate with experience and skills.
