Role Overview
The Radiographic Assistant position serves as a crucial support pillar within our expanding Imaging Services department. Often the initial point of contact for patients, either in person or via telephone, excellent communication skills are a must. The role is primarily based at the Royal Derby Hospital but may occasionally require working at the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital depending on service needs.
Department Significance
Imaging departments are essential to hospital operations, with most patients visiting these services as part of their care pathway. The team is diverse, composed of professionals from various backgrounds with complementary skills unified to deliver effective patient care.
Candidate Profile
Previous healthcare experience and an NVQ Level 2 are beneficial but not mandatory. The role demands a personable, dependable, and diligent approach for patient reception, screening, and assistance with changing for exams and procedures. These interpersonal skills could stem from a wide range of past roles.
Patient Care Responsibilities
You will be expected to demonstrate empathy and approachability, consistently addressing patient needs following the Trust’s 6 C’s, CARE, and PRIDE principles. This involves assisted manual handling, patient movement, and positioning in collaboration with Radiographers to enable imaging examinations.
Daily Duties
- Welcoming and assisting patients.
- Providing hands-on patient care including chaperoning.
- Supporting the Imaging Team in various tasks.
- Interpreting written requests accurately and managing confidential digital records.
- Following detailed instructions and protocols while developing the ability to self-manage workloads independently as experience grows.
