Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Radiographer Aide to join our Tallaght team. The role focuses on ensuring patient safety and comfort during MRI procedures, facilitating smooth patient flow, communicating effectively, and adhering strictly to clinic policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and verify patient identity at each interaction; explain procedures clearly and provide empathetic support throughout their visit.
• Assist patients in safe transfers and positioning, employing approved manual-handling methods, and monitoring patients needing supervision while promptly reporting any concerns to the supervising Radiographer.
• Address basic patient comfort needs and keep patients informed about scheduling or delays.
• Support MRI procedures by helping patients with changing, positioning, coil placement/removal, restocking consumables, and assisting with pre-check questionnaires as directed.
• Prepare Ultrasound rooms, ensure consumable stock, assist patients on/off couches, chaperone scans as necessary, perform cleaning and high-level disinfection of probes following protocol and training.
• Confirm patient arrivals in RIS, assist with managing daily lists and follow-up appointments.
• Aid CT workflow by preparing patients, assisting transfers, supporting comfort before and after scans, helping with oral contrast preparation under supervision, and maintaining room cleanliness and equipment checks.
• Provide reception and administrative support including scheduling, next-day list checks, handling queries, and escalating clinical questions appropriately.
• Maintain rigorous infection control, hygiene, and patient safety standards as per JCI and MRI-specific safety regulations.
• Participate in audits, stock and equipment logs, and room turnaround procedures; report safety incidents or near misses without delay.
• Manage clinical/non-clinical areas to ensure tidiness, restock supplies, and correctly handle waste streams including sharps and clinical waste.
• Uphold confidentiality and data protection, utilize personal protective equipment, adhere to manual and patient handling protocols, and support orienting new staff.
• Complete mandatory training and maintain updated competencies in areas such as Basic Life Support, manual handling, and fire safety.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum educational requirement: Leaving Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong interpersonal skills with clear written and verbal English communication abilities.
• Basic proficiency in IT including Microsoft Office.
• Desirable qualifications include QQI/FETAC Level 5 healthcare-related awards (e.g., Healthcare Support or Health Service Skills), certifications in Manual Handling, Basic Life Support, Fire Safety, and hospital or clinical experience.
• Previous exposure to Ultrasound, CT, or MRI environments is advantageous.
