Role Summary

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Hardware Business team focused on aluminium extrusion and surface coating. The role involves quality inspection, vendor coordination, stock management, and compliance enforcement with a base in Bangalore to facilitate vendor visits primarily within Karnataka.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough quality inspections of incoming aluminium extrusion materials, including anodized and powder-coated components, assessing dimensions, coating thickness, color uniformity, and detecting defects.
• Collaborate closely with glass processing vendors to ensure product quality aligns with specifications, approvals, and timely delivery schedules.
• Regularly visit multiple vendors to perform quality checks and supervise stock reconciliation, liaising with the Hardware Business warehouse team.
• Identify new vendors specializing in anodizing and powder coating, integrating them as part of Saint-Gobain’s approved vendor network through proper procedures and coordination with the purchasing department.
• Work alongside vendors and the purchase team to prioritize production requirements that meet project timelines.
• Follow up on vendor corrective actions addressing non-conformities and maintain proper documentation.
• Generate and submit detailed reports and analyses regarding vendor stock status to warehouse and purchase teams.
• Coordinate with the Quality Incharge to enforce all quality control standards at vendor facilities in alignment with company policies.
• Assist with physical stock verification alongside external auditors and ensure accurate stock records without discrepancies.
• Perform any additional tasks supporting quality compliance and vendor stock management as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.Tech/B.E.) or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgical, or Material Engineering, or any relevant discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of proven experience in quality management within related industries, particularly aluminium extrusion, surface coating (anodizing and powder coating), and quality assessment at glass processing vendors.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations is preferred.
• Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in Hindi is advantageous.
• Desirable experience with SAP and good analytical abilities, including typing skills.
• Willingness to undertake additional responsibilities and travel primarily within Karnataka, with occasional trips outside the region as business needs dictate.

Additional Information

Although the position is primarily based near Bangalore, flexibility to visit vendors across Karnataka is essential. The role supports the smooth execution of project requirements through supplier quality assurance and stock management adhering to Saint-Gobain’s high standards.
