Role Overview

As a QA Engineer focused on data platforms, you will be responsible for validating our platforms end-to-end — from data pipelines transforming and moving data to APIs exposing it. Your role concentrates on verification rather than development, building confidence that our data flows and transformations work as intended, which is critical in financial services environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and take ownership of automated test suites including functional, integration, and end-to-end tests embedded within Continuous Integration pipelines to enforce continuous quality gates.
• Conduct thorough testing of platform APIs via contract testing, schema validation, and end-to-end assessments for data APIs consumed externally and by partners.
• Perform detailed source-to-target reconciliation and checksum validations to detect potential silent failures in complex data transformations using AWS Glue or Data Factory.
• Manage and extend data quality checks using Soda Core across Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers, ensuring proper firing of quality gates within automated suites.
• Monitor automated alerts, investigate initial root causes for data drifts or schema failures, and collaborate with engineering squads to implement lasting fixes.
• Partner with Data Engineering teams to embed automated validations into live data pipelines and support data contracts and OpenMetadata lineage systems used by data producers and consumers.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Between 2 to 4 years of experience in QA or test automation, preferably on data-intensive or backend platforms.
• Strong command of SQL and Python for test development, data validation, and scripting tasks.
• Hands-on experience in API and contract testing, including REST APIs and schema/contract validations.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks integrated into CI environments.
• Working knowledge of Lakehouse architectures and familiarity with the Medallion design pattern (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers).
• Practical experience with cloud data services such as AWS S3, Glue, and Athena or equivalent cloud platforms.
• A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Ability to diagnose the root causes beyond failed checks and understand their broader impact on business operations.
• An attentive approach ensuring thorough referential integrity, reconciliation, and checksum alignment.
• Comfortable in agile fast-paced environments using Jira and actively contributing to Scrum rituals.
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical issues clearly and fostering a quality-driven engineering culture.

Preferred Skills

• Experience testing APIs consumed by external partners in regulated data-sharing scenarios.
• Familiarity with data quality tools like Soda Core or similar.
• Exposure to OpenMetadata or comparable lineage and metadata management tools.
• A proactive mindset aimed at automating repetitive procedures to enhance team productivity.
• Understanding of data-specific challenges within Financial Services or Banking industries.
