Role Overview

The Public Relations Officer will be a full-time, onsite professional based in Madurai responsible for managing both internal and external communication efforts for the organization. Key duties include drafting press releases, managing relationships with local and regional media, and coordinating media interactions to promote the organization's services and community engagement activities. The officer will develop and execute communication strategies that effectively convey the organization's initiatives and impact.

Responsibilities

• Prepare press releases and coordinate engagements with media outlets.
• Create content for newsletters and social media platforms to enhance public visibility.
• Respond to public inquiries and media questions in a timely and professional manner.
• Support events and outreach programs to strengthen community relations.
• Monitor public perception and ensure respectful, consistent representation of the organization.
• Collaborate with management and care teams to gather information, stories, and updates for dissemination to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong expertise in Public Relations and Media Relations to foster effective press interaction and visibility.
• Experience in preparing press releases and implementing strategic communication plans.
• Exceptional communication abilities including writing clearly, active listening, and confident verbal skills.
• Preferably experienced in communication within healthcare, elder care, or social service sectors.
• Ability to work onsite in Madurai and collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with office software and social media tools are beneficial.
