Role summary
The Procurement Officer will handle the complete purchasing cycle for construction and related project needs, making sure materials, equipment, and services are acquired on time and at the right cost. This position is full-time and based in Qatar, with a hybrid arrangement that combines office work and approved work-from-home time.
Key responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, the role involves identifying and sourcing suppliers, collecting and assessing quotations, creating and managing purchase orders, and keeping an eye on delivery timelines. The position also supports contract discussions, keeps procurement documentation accurate, works closely with project and finance teams, and ensures purchasing activity follows company rules and local requirements. In addition, the officer will review market movements, supplier performance, and pricing patterns to help guide smarter buying decisions.
Qualifications and requirements
- Experience across the full procurement cycle, from sourcing through to purchase completion, is essential.
- Hands-on experience with purchase order preparation, tracking, and coordination with project and finance needs is required.
- Ability to negotiate contracts and achieve favorable terms while preserving good supplier relations is important.
- Strong analytical ability is needed to compare quotations, study market trends, and balance cost with quality.
- Background in construction, engineering, or industrial environments is considered a strong advantage.
- Good organization, careful attention to detail, and working knowledge of MS Office and procurement or ERP software are preferred.
- Clear communication in English is required, and Arabic language skills would be beneficial.
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a similar area is preferred.
