Overview
This opportunity is presented by our partner company searching for a Procurement Director located in Canada. This senior leadership position entails guiding procurement transformation efforts and enhancing strategic sourcing across a large organization with complex operations. The role involves oversight of a significant portfolio comprising both direct and indirect expenditures, driving cost optimization, supplier effectiveness, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead regional procurement strategies and initiatives to optimize sourcing across diverse categories such as technology, professional services, logistics, facilities management, travel, equipment, and operational supplies.
- Oversee a large spending portfolio, identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving efficiency to generate added value.
- Establish and nurture strong partnerships with business stakeholders to align procurement approaches with organizational goals.
- Formulate and implement category management plans, while fostering growth and skill development among procurement specialists.
- Participate in leadership programs within procurement, spearheading strategic sourcing and adopting industry best practices.
- Drive improvements in procurement maturity, vendor management, governance frameworks, and operational workflows.
- Create reporting and communication systems to enhance visibility and support informed decision-making in procurement.
- Develop and enforce supplier performance management programs, including setting contracts, service level agreements, risk management, and compliance oversight.
- Manage supplier base rationalization efforts to optimize efficiency and business results regionally.
- Lead cross-functional teams in initiatives to reduce total ownership costs of goods and services.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, systems, controls, and applicable regulations in all procurement activities.
- Provide mentorship and motivation to procurement teams, encouraging collaboration, accountability, and ongoing process improvement.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines such as Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Business Administration.
- At least 10 years of experience in procurement management, strategic sourcing, or supply chain leadership roles.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing and developing teams.
- Master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or an MBA is preferred.
- CPSM certification is advantageous.
- Deep expertise in procurement workflows, category management, supplier negotiations, and vendor relations.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving capabilities with the skill to interpret complex regulatory and business data.
- Familiarity with procurement technologies like GEP eSourcing and ERP systems such as Oracle E-Business Suite is desirable.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing procurement policies, controls, and systems in multi-layered organizations.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and foster cross-departmental collaboration.
- Strong leadership qualities to inspire teams, cultivate trust, and achieve impactful results.
- Adept at prioritizing and managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Fluent English communication, both written and oral.
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Preparedness for occasional travel as job demands.
