Role Overview

As a Principal Platform Engineer based in Limerick, Ireland, you will join a passionate team dedicated to enabling the payments ecosystem. This senior technical leadership role bridges cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, automation, and DevSecOps to influence architecture, enhance developer experience, and build secure, resilient, scalable systems operating at global scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecting, development, and continual enhancement of secure build, release, and delivery pipelines to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability across engineering teams.
• Implement infrastructure as code practices using tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent to establish scalable, maintainable platform foundations.
• Drive DevSecOps initiatives supporting security, compliance, and operational resilience throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to embed automation, governance, and secure engineering principles into platform processes.
• Offer technical leadership addressing infrastructure, deployment, reliability, and performance challenges, including root cause analyses and architectural improvements.
• Contribute to platform strategy, uphold engineering standards, and mentor teams to enhance scalability, developer productivity, and service quality.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive software engineering experience, including senior-level roles.
• Strong proficiency with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Proven expertise in infrastructure as code and configuration management tools like Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
• Hands-on experience implementing DevSecOps practices, automation, and secure software delivery.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical judgement with capacity to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
• Strong communication skills to influence technical decisions and liaise effectively with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with templating and packaging tools such as Carvel, Jinja, and Helm.
• Experience programming in Go is preferred; candidates with backgrounds in Java or Python who demonstrate rapid learning skills will also be considered.
• Experience in payments, regulated industries, or similar domains emphasizing security, resilience, and compliance is advantageous.
