We're seeking a Principal Planner to join our Southern Planning team, which spans Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead intricate planning, policy, and consenting projects within a diverse client portfolio.
• Foster and grow trusted advisor relationships, identifying avenues to boost SLR's market presence across sectors like local government, infrastructure, renewables, and development.
• Deliver expert planning guidance and strategic consultation for clients and project teams.
• Provide mentorship and development opportunities for planners throughout the Southern region and national teams.
• Conduct technical reviews ensuring top-quality project delivery standards.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary specialists in SLR to provide integrated client solutions.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a qualification in Resource Management Planning or a related discipline.
• Hold full NZPI membership or be capable of attaining it.
• Have approximately eight or more years of New Zealand-based planning experience within consultancy, local government, or similar sectors.
• Proven track record in managing complex planning, policy, or consenting projects.
• Strong skills in client relationship management and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Commercially minded with the ability to recognize new business opportunities.
• Leadership style that is cooperative and supportive.
