Principal Electrical Engineer - Offshore

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in pertinent meetings, prepare status updates, and adhere to mandated verification procedures.
• Ensure project scope clarity and manage any changes through established change control processes.
• Offer expert guidance during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including managing requisitions, evaluating technical bids, and assisting with purchase orders.
• Monitor and enforce compliance of engineering practices, legal regulations, and customer specifications within the team.
• Contribute to standardizing equipment specifications, designs, and documentation templates for consistency.
• Support knowledge sharing related to technical expertise, legal standards, and customer requirements.
• Apply local and international standards to uphold engineering excellence.
• Deliver specialised technical support and supervision to discipline and project teams, participate in peer evaluations.
• Help administer project changes, track progress, and collaborate with project management to address issues, resource needs, scope modifications, or other factors affecting delivery and profitability.
• Work closely with project teams on reviewing proposals, budget estimates, and timelines.
• Lead weekly electrical engineering meetings and review progress documentation and compliance checks.

Electrical Engineering Services Management

• Lead or contribute to meetings, progress reporting, and adherence to checking procedures.
• Confirm project scopes and manage changes strictly following change management protocols.
• Provide expert advice in procurement, construction, and commissioning, including requisition oversight and bid evaluations.
• Serve as the lead electrical engineer on assigned projects.

If Managing a Team

• Define project needs, promote task sharing when relevant, allocate tasks, and oversee team progress.
• Ensure services meet Worley’s, client, and regulatory requirements timely and within budget.
• Proactively resolve discrepancies between Worley’s and customer expectations.
• Stay informed about the latest technological advancements in electrical engineering.
• Support and mentor junior electrical engineers as needed.
• Maintain effective communication with the electrical team and project stakeholders, including clients.
• Identify challenges, develop solutions, and seek help when necessary.

Qualifications and Accreditation

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Mandatory Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) engineering accreditation; candidates must obtain this during probation if not already held.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or progress toward it is beneficial.

Industry Experience

• Extensive expertise in electrical design and engineering for offshore oil & gas and large industrial projects.
• Experience working on brownfield and asset services projects/contracts.
• Familiarity with Qatar projects and understanding of Kahramaa standards preferred.
• Proven background in detailed design engineering for oil & gas consultancies.
