Power Generation Engineer

Overview

The role of Power Generation Engineer involves assisting the Section Head in managing electricity generation matters and ensuring that licensees comply with technical standard requirements. This position also requires monitoring and evaluation of regulatory submissions related to electricity generation, analyzing production statistics, and conducting site inspections to verify compliance.

Primary Duties

• Evaluate the forecast for water demand in week 7 and any subsequent revisions.
• Assess future capacity and expansion plans for water production statements.
• Review and enhance quarterly reports from Independent Water and Power Producers (IWPP).
• Plan and carry out IWPP site visits and audits to ensure adherence to regulations.
• Assist investigations related to compliance breaches, generation challenges, and production incidents.
• Engage with licensees regarding any non-compliance concerns.
• Manage and update all electricity generation databases, including the Production Data Submission and Reporting System, and generate pertinent statistics.
• Create and maintain systems to benchmark engineering and process performance for the Department of Energy (DoE).
• Analyze data provided by licensees and report relevant information to DoE leadership.
• Offer technical guidance and recommendations on issues related to power generation and desalination.
• Review and contribute to technical standards, regulations, and regulatory methodologies related to electricity generation compliance.
• Stay informed about advancements in generation and production technology and provide feedback for sector-wide power network considerations.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the DoE.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in power sector operations and design.
