About the Role

PlunketLine offers a free telehealth helpline available around the clock for families, providing clinical advice and support concerning the health and wellbeing of children under five and parenting challenges. This position involves working a minimum of 0.6 Full-Time Equivalent in a fixed two-week roster covering various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. While there are physical call centers in Auckland and Wellington, experienced nurses from anywhere in New Zealand can work remotely, provided they have a reliable fast-fibre internet connection and a private workspace to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Registered Nurses will manage calls about a broad spectrum of child health issues ranging from general parenting questions to urgent clinical situations such as vomiting, colds, flu, and burns. Using clinical knowledge and nursing judgment, nurses will provide appropriate advice and support to callers. Training and clinical leader support will be provided to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Candidate Profile

Applicants must demonstrate strong listening and assessment abilities, employing a whānau-centred compassionate approach to gather relevant information effectively. Comfort with using multiple computer systems and high digital literacy is essential. Experience in pediatrics, emergency, or urgent care is required; previous telehealth or call centre experience is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates should be adaptable and resilient to work confidently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Salary and Benefits

The full-time salary ranges from NZD 66,222 to NZD 94,842 annually, depending on experience, equating to approximately NZD 33.51 to NZD 48.00 per hour. Additional penal rates apply for evening and weekend shifts.
