Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Plastics Injection Moulding Die Setter to become a vital member of our Hamilton manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Die Setter Supervisor, you will collaborate closely with the Plastics Operations, Tool & Die, and Maintenance teams. Your role will be critical in ensuring the optimal setup and upkeep of machinery, moulds, and die-sets to uphold high production quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Shift Details
- Day Shift: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM
- Night Shift: 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM
Key Responsibilities
- Perform safe and precise tool changes and start-up of injection moulding machines aligned with production needs.
- Maintain product quality by ensuring outputs meet or exceed set standards, assisting promptly with any quality issues.
- Apply effective troubleshooting techniques to quickly resolve any die or machine malfunctions.
- Participate actively in Lean and SMED initiatives to minimize waste and accelerate changeover processes.
- Plan tasks efficiently while remaining adaptable to support various shifts as required.
- Uphold rigorous safety protocols, housekeeping standards (6S), and encourage teamwork.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and problem-solving within the plastics production team.
Candidate Profile
You should be mechanically inclined, proactive, and thrive within fast-paced manufacturing environments. Precision, quality, and safety are your priorities, and you enjoy working collaboratively to maintain seamless production activities.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Trade certification related to Die Setting, Plastics Engineering, or mechanical trades such as fitter-welder, or equivalent hands-on tooling experience.
- Qualifications such as a Plastics Engineering Trade Certificate or PAMPITO are advantageous.
- Demonstrated track record in plastics injection moulding die setting, including tool setups, mould changes, and machine start-ups.
- Strong ability in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Competence in planning, communication, and managing time effectively.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and SMED methodologies.
- Dedication to maintaining safety, quality standards, and ongoing process improvements.
