Role Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and seasoned Payroll Coordinator to oversee payroll functions for a workforce that includes employees on rotational schedules. This role involves managing accurate and timely biweekly payroll processing while ensuring compliance with company policies and Canadian employment standards. The position requires close collaboration with HR, Finance, and Operations within a dynamic mining context and reports to the Finance & Supply Chain Manager from the Sudbury office with a Monday to Friday workweek.
Key Duties
- Manage the biweekly payroll operations for Côté Gold, covering earnings, deductions, bonuses, and hourly wage input.
- Audit payroll registers for accuracy before approval and prepare associated journal entries.
- Maintain up-to-date employee records in payroll and timekeeping systems for all staffing changes.
- Ensure precise tracking and approval of employee working hours in line with company policies and legislation.
- Implement federal and provincial payroll, tax, and WSIB regulations, including all periodic remittances and reporting.
- Handle payroll adjustments such as benefit deductions, vacations, sick leaves, and overtime promptly and correctly.
- Assist with audits, reconciliations, and end-of-year payroll activities, instituting controls for accuracy and compliance.
- Serve as the main contact for payroll-related inquiries, coordinating with employees, managers, government bodies, and vendors as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Administration or a related discipline.
- Certification in Canadian Payroll practices.
- At least five years’ experience managing wage and payroll processes.
- Familiarity with industrial shift environments, including rotational schedules.
- Preferred knowledge of UKG and Nethris payroll systems.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges between $89,000 and $133,500 annually, determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
