Role Overview
The Payroll Administrator position, based full-time at either the Peterlee or North Shields office, entails comprehensive management of payroll processing from start to finish. Duties include verifying timesheets, updating employee records, ensuring precise salary calculations, and facilitating prompt salary payments. The role demands oversight of payroll deductions, benefits administration, garnishments, tax compliance, and responding efficiently to employee payroll inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Process complete payroll cycles accurately and on time.
- Validate and monitor timesheets and employee data integrity.
- Manage payroll deductions, including garnishments and tax obligations.
- Coordinate benefits administration linked with payroll functions and address related employee questions.
- Reconcile payroll reports and maintain comprehensive payroll records.
- Liaise closely with Human Resources and Finance teams to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Support payroll audits and contribute to enhancements in payroll procedures.
- Stay compliant with payroll-related legal regulations and company policies.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in full-cycle payroll administration, maintaining accurate payroll data.
- Understanding of payroll garnishments and tax requirements.
- Experience managing employee benefits within payroll systems and handling benefit queries.
- Basic accounting knowledge supporting reconciliation and reporting tasks related to payroll.
- Background in payroll roles within medium to large organizations, ideally within FMCG, wholesale, or distribution sectors.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical precision, proficient with payroll software and spreadsheets.
- Effective communicator capable of managing confidential payroll information and working with multiple departments.
- Formal education or certification in payroll, finance, or equivalent fields is advantageous, as are recognized professional payroll qualifications.
