Role Overview
Qatar Airways invites applications for the position of Operations Systems Specialist within its Flight Operations - Operational Strategy & Innovation team, based in Doha, Qatar. The role centers on managing and supporting specialized operational systems in the Operational Control Centre and Flight Operations, including maintaining rules, configuration, and reference data integral to flight and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure operational systems contain accurate and up-to-date reference data such as aircraft tail numbers, airport details, scheduling codes, and crew expiry data to allow seamless task execution by system users.
- Oversee user account management and security, granting and modifying access aligning with business permissions, deactivating accounts as necessary to safeguard Qatar Airways' data.
- Promptly configure and maintain primary alerts, flight time limitations (FTL) rules, expiry tracking, and scheduling restrictions in TOPS system to help teams identify and prevent regulatory or company policy breaches.
- Collaborate with end-users to identify inefficiencies or hurdles in system usage and propose improvements, temporary solutions, or software enhancements to optimize workflows.
- Identify software customization opportunities and clarify requirements, coordinating with vendors to ensure custom developments fulfill business needs.
- Investigate and troubleshoot reported system issues, working closely with users to determine root causes and apply corrections including configuration adjustments or changes in user workflows.
- Assess vendor-provided fixes to verify they meet functional expectations and prevent business disruption prior to rollout to end-users.
Qualifications and Skills
- College or university degree with a minimum of five years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience administering operational systems comparable to those used in airline operations.
- Previous involvement in user support roles is preferred.
- Strong understanding of airline operational system technical teams and their functions.
- Knowledge of specialist user roles such as crew control, rostering, operations control, and training planning.
- Familiarity with airline operations and crew management systems including optimization tools.
- Proven capability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical abilities, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
