Job description
Role Overview
The Marine Mammal Specialist II will manage the day-to-day care, health monitoring, training, and overall welfare of marine mammals at the Singapore Oceanarium, while also leading interactive programs for guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive dolphin care, including feeding, handling, behavioral observation, enrichment activities, conditioning, and training.
- Assist in veterinary procedures as needed to support animal health.
- Document data thoroughly and prepare related reports.
- Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of dolphin enclosures and associated equipment.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic work environment, including tools and equipment.
- Deliver guest interaction sessions to enhance visitor engagement.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Life Sciences, Psychology, or a related field.
- SCUBA certification at Open Water Dive level or above is required; candidates without certification but willing to obtain it are welcome.
- Comfortable working in aquatic settings.
- Strong enthusiasm and knowledge of animal husbandry and welfare.
- Effective verbal communication capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Physical fitness to handle equipment, including lifting up to 15 kilograms.
