With over 40 years of experience, it operates four manufacturing units in Chennai and employs a workforce exceeding 2,000 personnel. Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Maintenance Incharge will be responsible for managing equipment downtime, spare parts inventory, and ensuring statutory safety compliance across various systems in the plant. This role demands leadership in implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), continuous improvement initiatives, budgeting, and overseeing utility services.

  • Maintain zero machine downtime for TPM-designated equipment and keep downtime within acceptable limits for other machines.
  • Plan and procure machine spare parts, optimizing inventory while reducing excess stock.
  • Ensure all equipment adheres to safety and regulatory standards, including pressure vessels, lifting tackles, ammonia handling, and electrical safety.
  • Lead TPM implementation and sustainment within designated areas.
  • Coordinate machine reconditioning and support commissioning of new machinery.
  • Maintain uninterrupted provision of utilities such as electricity, water, and compressed air to all departments.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement activities within preventive maintenance functions.
  • Identify training needs and conduct training for maintenance personnel.
  • Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget with cost efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Management System requirements.

Authority and Decision Making

  • Authorize the procurement of spare parts maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Decide on maintenance methodologies, techniques, and best practices to follow.

Required Competencies and Experience

  • Proficient in maintenance and repair of diverse machine tools.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Expertise in spare parts planning and inventory control.
  • Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and calibration procedures.
  • Familiarity with IATF standards as well as internal audit processes.
  • Knowledge of fire safety systems, equipment, and compliance.

Preferred Skills

  • Problem-solving capabilities employing Statistical Quality Control (SQC), Seven Quality Control Tools, and other structured methodologies.
  • Leadership, effective communication, persistence, organizational and planning skills, and team management abilities.

Educational Qualifications & Experience

Two pathways available based on qualifications:

  • Diploma holders (DMTMR, DME, DEE or equivalent) must have at least 10 years of relevant maintenance experience.
  • Engineers with B.E. or B.Tech degrees in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering require a minimum of 8 years of relevant maintenance experience.
