Role Summary

This opening is for an experienced Mainframe Developer based in Chennai. The role focuses on building, improving, and supporting enterprise-grade IBM Mainframe applications, with an emphasis on CICS-driven systems and dependable production support.

What You Will Do

• Develop, support, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
• Build online CICS programs using BMS maps, pseudo-conversational flow, COMMAREA, and Channels/Containers.
• Write COBOL-DB2 programs with embedded SQL, cursor handling, transaction control, and robust exception management.
• Investigate and fix production incidents such as abends, slow performance, and data issues.
• Prepare and manage JCL, procedures, symbolic parameters, and batch job flows.
• Carry out DB2 tuning work including SQL optimization, access-path review, EXPLAIN, RUNSTATS, indexing, and buffer pool analysis.
• Improve CICS transaction throughput and VSAM file access performance.
• Use debugging tools like Abend-AID and CEEDUMP to identify root causes.
• Handle source changes through tools such as Endevor or Git.
• Work with scheduling utilities such as Control-M or CA7 for batch execution.
• Contribute to code reviews, unit testing, technical documentation, and Agile delivery processes.

Experience Required

The expected experience level is 6 to 8 years in IBM mainframe development and support.

Eligibility

Applicants should hold a B.Tech or B.E. in any specialization, a B.C.A. in any specialization, or a B.Sc. in any specialization.
