Job description
Overview
The Junior Technician role at Skills.et involves being an integral part of the manufacturing team responsible for assembling electric two-wheelers (E2W) according to specifications from the Factory Operations Manager. This role focuses on building components, ensuring product quality, and maintaining thorough documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assemble complex products precisely following given specifications and detailed engineering drawings.
- Calibrate equipment and perform advanced adjustments utilizing specialized testing instruments.
- Create and refine assembly and testing procedures to uphold product quality.
- Maintain registration documents for E2Ws in accordance with standard protocols.
- Clean components thoroughly as per established procedures.
- Assist warehouse teams in material handling and logistics.
- Collaborate closely with quality assurance to identify and solve product defects during assembly, perform performance testing, and document findings.
- Conduct installations, rework, inspections, replacements, adjustments, and reassembly tasks as necessary.
- Support health and safety programs to sustain a secure work environment.
- Contribute suggestions for improving design, assembly efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Engage in ongoing training and skills development focused on electric two-wheeler assembly.
- Consistently achieve daily production goals while adhering to quality and safety standards.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and engineering specifications rigorously.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, following 5S methodology to avoid hazards.
- Properly use and maintain assigned tools, reporting issues promptly.
- Accurately document all production and assembly activities per company guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and Engineering.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline; alternatively a relevant TVET certification.
- Between 6 months to 1 year of experience in a factory environment working with electric two- or three-wheelers or similar products.
- Familiarity with industry-specific factory equipment.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools preferred.
- Strong multitasking capability.
- Effective time management skills.
- Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability.
- Good communication skills.
