Role overview

Atolls is hiring a Junior Frontend Engineer for its Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada office. This position is focused on improving and modernizing customer-facing product experiences so users can shop with more confidence and make better-informed decisions. The role directly contributes to the digital experiences people rely on while exploring, comparing, and purchasing products.

Applicants must already be based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or be planning to relocate there.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reusable Vue.js UI components and polished user interfaces.
• Support the migration of the frontend codebase from Twig and Vue 2 to Vue 3.
• Help move the build setup from Webpack to Vite for a faster development workflow.
• Work with GraphQL APIs to retrieve and update data efficiently.
• Improve code quality through testing practices, maintainable architecture, and engineering standards.
• Partner with designers, product managers, and backend engineers in an agile team environment.

Requirements

• Strong practical knowledge of modern frontend development, including how browsers render content and the constraints of the web platform.
• Good command of TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue.js, and React.
• At least 3 years of experience building applications with client-side JavaScript frameworks, with Vue 2/3 in use at the company.
• Solid understanding of CSS structure, layout methods, and responsive design.
• Experience with frontend build and development tools such as Webpack and Vite.
• Working knowledge of Git, branching/workflow practices, and CI/CD automation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; English is the company language.

Bonus experience

• Hands-on experience with Vue 3 and the Composition API.
• Previous involvement in frontend migrations such as Vue 2 to Vue 3 or Webpack to Vite.
• Experience using GraphQL clients such as Apollo Client.
• Familiarity with state management tools like Vuex or Pinia.
• Knowledge of frontend testing tools such as Jest and Vue Test Utils.
• A strong eye for detail and a clear focus on user experience quality.
