Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Camera Operator to collaborate closely with our Senior Camera Operator (Director of Photography) on documentary-style productions based in Dubai, with occasional shoots abroad. This position requires initiative and a proactive mindset as you will be expected to independently assess scenes and capture them effectively without constant direction, while also fostering a positive atmosphere on set by engaging with clients and easing tensions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Senior Camera Operator during documentary shoots within the UAE and sometimes internationally.
- Independently analyze and shoot scenes, particularly in the absence of the director.
- Assist with lighting and audio setups when necessary, primarily by optimizing natural light on location.
- Adhere strictly to file management and offloading protocols established by the post-production team.
- Provide additional support on set across gear handling, logistics, and problem-solving tasks.
Candidate Profile
- Familiarity or willingness to learn the FX6 camera system and its accessories.
- Strong intuitive sense for shot coverage, able to find appropriate shots autonomously.
- Basic understanding of lighting and audio principles.
- Cooperative mindset, eager to support senior operators without rivalry.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging with strangers on set.
- Dependable, low-conflict, and disciplined in following instructions and workflows.
- Possession of a personal vehicle.
- Availability for occasional assignments overseas.
Working Environment
This is a full-time position starting with a trial period. Our crew is small and well-structured with clear leadership roles: the Senior Operator provides technical direction, the Junior Operator manages communication and backup duties, and the director oversees the overall project. We seek someone who fits seamlessly into this hierarchy and works independently without requiring constant supervision.
