Role Overview

We seek an Associate skilled in Japanese language and Business Intelligence & Analytics to deliver precise research and analysis to internal clients. This position involves comprehensive research in both Japanese and English within sectors such as Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT), Industrials & Energy (NRG), and Financial Institutions Group (FIG). The candidate will utilize a variety of public and proprietary data sources to generate detailed financial and industry reports, company profiles, and transaction analyses.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough and accurate research in Japanese and English to produce high-quality deliverables for internal stakeholders.
• Utilize public and proprietary datasets and tools to gather intelligence and perform sector-specific research.
• Develop detailed company profiles, transaction comparables, financial benchmarking, and industry analysis reports.
• Analyze company operations, financial performance, and key operational indicators.
• Conduct industry market assessment and prepare newsletters focusing on companies and sectors.
• Apply advanced financial modeling techniques and maintain models to support business insights.
• Analyze systematic data, distilling complex information into clear formats to aid decision making.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance research and analytics efficiency.
• Train and mentor junior analysts, review their output for accuracy, and collaborate to ensure quality deliverables.
• Translate and interpret Japanese financial documents such as earnings releases, regulatory filings, and investor presentations into English with precision.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Strong grasp of financial principles including balance sheet analysis, valuation techniques, and financial ratio interpretation.
• Excellent project management abilities, with superior time management and organizational skills.
• Client-oriented mindset with aptitude for anticipating requirements, managing priorities, and collaborating to meet objectives.
• Outstanding analytical abilities and writing skills to create clear, structured, and insightful reports.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Proficiency in Japanese language with JLPT N2 certification or higher, capable of understanding and summarizing complex financial content.
• Graduation or master’s degree in finance or related field.
• 0 to 2 years of professional experience in relevant fields.

Preferred Qualifications

• Finance-related certifications, such as CFA Level 1, are advantageous.
• Familiarity with financial databases including S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, and Refinitiv is beneficial.
• Practical experience building or managing financial models in Excel or equivalent tools.
• Experience with AI prompting or leveraging Generative AI tools in a business context is a plus.

Additional Information

• Working hours are from 6 AM to 3 PM.
