Role overview
The IT Change Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s change management function and making sure every IT change — from routine standard changes to urgent emergency changes — is properly reviewed, approved, implemented, and verified in a controlled way. The purpose of the role is to safeguard service stability by reducing the chance that poorly planned or unauthorized changes disrupt business operations. This position serves as both a process owner and a trusted advisor, partnering with technology teams, business stakeholders, and leadership to strike the right balance between control and speed.
Core responsibilities
In this role, you will govern the full change lifecycle, assess risk and impact, coordinate authorization, and keep the change process aligned with ITIL and internal policy. You will also manage communication, reporting, process improvement, and compliance across the change management practice.
Change governance and authorization
- Run the complete change management workflow in line with ITIL guidance and the organization’s internal policies.
- Lead Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Emergency CAB (ECAB) sessions, ensuring each request is reviewed for risk and approved appropriately.
- Evaluate Request for Change (RFC) submissions and decide whether to approve or decline them based on risk, impact, and available resources.
- Keep the Forward Schedule of Change (FSC) up to date and coordinate implementation windows with operations teams.
Risk assessment and impact analysis
- Review proposed changes to determine business impact and risk exposure, and make sure mitigation and rollback plans are prepared.
- Spot dependencies, conflicts, and scheduling overlaps across infrastructure, applications, and services.
- Confirm that changes remain within the organization’s risk tolerance and meet regulatory expectations.
Stakeholder management and communication
- Share approved change details and expected impact with relevant stakeholders in a timely and easy-to-understand manner.
- Serve as the main contact between technical teams and business users during planned changes, upgrades, and maintenance windows.
- Prepare concise change reports and post-implementation reviews for leadership.
Process improvement and compliance
- Develop, maintain, and improve change management policies, procedures, templates, and working practices.
- Ensure every change activity is documented, traceable, audit-ready, and aligned with governance and compliance requirements.
- Identify unauthorized changes, address them, and reinforce adherence to the approved process.
- Work with incident and problem management teams to trace change-related incidents and reduce repeat issues.
Tools, reporting, and automation
- Administer and tune the change management module in the ITSM platform, such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or BMC Remedy.
- Create KPI dashboards, trend reports, and SLA performance updates for senior management.
- Promote automation and wider use of pre-approved and standard change models to improve operational speed.
Job requirements
The position is open to Saudi nationals only and is based in Jeddah.
- A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required; equivalent experience may also be considered.
- ITIL Foundation certification (v3 or v4) is mandatory.
- ITIL Change Management Practitioner or ITIL Managing Professional certification is strongly preferred.
- At least 4 to 6 years of experience in IT Service Management is required, including a minimum of 2 years in a dedicated change management position.
- Hands-on experience leading CAB meetings and handling complex, high-risk change workflows is expected.
- Strong working knowledge of ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or BMC Remedy is needed.
- You should understand enterprise IT landscapes, including infrastructure, cloud, networking, and applications.
- The role requires the ability to apply governance without slowing business responsiveness.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder coordination skills are essential.
