Investigations Analyst, Threats

Overview

The Central Investigations team at Meta is committed to protecting users by preventing harm and mitigating safety-related threats. We seek a skilled investigator to address complex and high-profile risks impacting Meta's family of apps and services. This role involves working on issues related to terrorism and violent extremism, leveraging investigative expertise and open-source methods to identify and reduce potential harm.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into terrorism, violent extremism, and related threats affecting Meta platforms.
• Analyze complex threat cases on Meta technologies thoroughly and independently.
• Manage multiple investigations concurrently, prioritizing based on severity, deadlines, and stakeholder needs.
• Identify sources of abusive behavior and rapidly assess threat credibility to prevent user harm.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Policy, Engineering, and Integrity.
• Collect, analyze, and synthesize data to detect potential abusive activity.
• Regularly engage with sensitive and graphic content.
• Make informed, timely decisions with minimal supervision during urgent investigations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Over 8 years of professional investigation or analysis experience in law enforcement, security, risk, or safety sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of terrorist groups and violent extremist actors, particularly related to social media platforms and investigative tools.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Possession of or pursuing a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Excellent analytical and investigative skills capable of processing large datasets to identify critical information.
• Familiarity with handling sensitive subjects including graphic violence, extremist content, various religious and political views, and adult material.
• Experience in managing highly confidential information securely.
• Willingness to work outside regular hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Committed to continuous development of AI-related skills and staying updated with new AI advancements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience conducting open-source investigations or working within a technology company environment.
• Proficiency in languages besides English, to support investigations in global communities.
• Knowledge of data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, or data visualization software.
• Experience with ethical AI implementations including risk assessment, bias reduction, and accuracy reviews.
• Capability to work effectively across teams in multiple locations and time zones.
• Proven integration of AI technologies for improving workflows and achieving measurable impact.

Additional Information

This position is offered as a Short-Term Employment contract with potential for extension or conversion based on company needs and performance. Compensation is based on skills, experience, and location and excludes bonuses and equity. Meta provides comprehensive benefits beyond base salary.
