Internal Audit Officer

Overview

The Internal Audit Officer will report directly to the Internal Audit Manager and assist with the Town Council's internal auditing practices. This role involves performing comprehensive risk assessments, evaluating existing controls, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations to safeguard organizational integrity.

Primary Duties

• Carry out detailed risk evaluations and pinpoint existing control mechanisms mitigating those risks.
• Execute audit procedures through testing and conducting interviews to verify control functionality.
• Examine and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of control measures.
• Identify any control deficiencies and suggest enhancements.
• Conduct prompt follow-ups to guarantee resolution of audit concerns.
• Document audit findings and the work completed systematically.
• Assist external auditors during the annual financial audit process.
• Advance and refine internal audit standards within the Town Council framework.
• Ensure adherence to Corporate Governance policies and applicable statutory requirements, including the Town Councils Act and Financial Rules.
• Support facilitation of the Audit Committee’s initiatives.

Candidate Profile

• Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business, paired with at least two years’ experience in internal or external auditing or related fields.
