Role summary
This part-time, on-site position in Richmond, BC is focused on designing interior spaces that work well alongside DSG’s exterior mouldings and wall systems. The role calls for creating interior design concepts, developing layouts and mood boards, selecting finishes and materials, and making sure each design meets architectural and construction needs. The designer will work with management, clients, and outside partners to align interior solutions with DSG products, offer design guidance, and may also help with showroom presentation or project display materials. Staying current on design trends, building regulations, and product capabilities related to DSG’s range is also part of the job.
Core qualifications
The ideal candidate should bring solid interior design capability, including concept creation and detailed design work, along with strong space planning skills for functional and visually appealing layouts. A working understanding of architecture is important, especially when coordinating with exterior architectural elements. Experience with construction drawings—such as reading and preparing plans and elevations—is required, and familiarity with FF&E selection and specification is expected. A diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline is needed. The role also calls for proficiency in drafting and design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar software, plus strong visual presentation and rendering skills. Good organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage several part-time projects are important. Knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and material characteristics is an advantage, and experience with architectural products or collaboration with builders and contractors is helpful.
