Head of Tendering & Estimation

Position Overview

An international Tier 1 main contractor is searching for an experienced Head of Tendering & Estimation to spearhead its pre-contracts and estimating division in Doha, Qatar. This senior role demands a candidate with significant GCC market experience and a demonstrated history of managing tenders for substantial projects exceeding USD 200 million.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and oversee the tender and estimation team throughout the entire bidding process.
• Create effective bidding strategies to enhance commercial outcomes.
• Supervise quantity take-offs, Bill of Quantities preparation, and CCS estimating activities.
• Analyze and prepare comprehensive Request for Quotation packages, including specifications, drawings, and project scopes.
• Lead technical and commercial assessments of subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Ensure thorough capture of pricing, contractual conditions, risk factors, preliminaries, overheads and profits, escalation, and financial considerations.
• Communicate tender strategies, potential risks, and recommendations to the Tender Committee and Board of Directors.
• Monitor tender key performance indicators such as profit margins, win rates, and submission timelines.
• Develop and maintain a high-performing tender team through effective leadership.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited UK or US university.
• Background in leading Tier 1 international contracting firms.
• Substantial professional exposure to GCC projects.
• Proven ability to tender major projects valued at over USD 200 million.
• Experience in diverse sectors including airports, rail infrastructure, bridges, data centres, luxury hotels or residences, skyscrapers surpassing 50 storeys, seaports, or military projects.
• Comprehensive expertise in CCS systems, estimating procedures, commercial and contract knowledge.
• Demonstrated leadership within prominent pre-contract or tendering functions.
