Head of Lifting - Offshore Projects, Qatar

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Head of Lifting to lead lifting discipline activities across major Oil & Gas projects in Qatar, driving technical leadership, governance, and assurance for lifting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the expert authority and principal contact for all lifting activities during project execution phases.
• Offer technical advice and support on lifting operations, emphasizing safety protocols and industry standards.
• Evaluate complex and critical lifts to ensure risk mitigation and safeguarding measures are implemented effectively.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance lifting assurance and compliance methodologies across projects.
• Review, unify, and update lifting policies and best practices aligned with corporate and international standards.
• Lead investigations into high-potential lifting incidents, perform root cause analyses, and oversee corrective action implementations.
• Ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory and company lifting requirements.
• Act as the communication bridge between project teams and Operations Lifting Departments, especially for brownfield initiatives.
• Cultivate a safety-first culture and seek continuous operational performance improvements in lifting activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or related field.
• Mandatory OPITO LOLER Competent Person certification.
• At least 10 years’ experience working on large-scale Oil & Gas projects, encompassing construction, installation, fabrication, hook-up, commissioning, or project delivery.
• Minimum 2 years in supervisory, leadership, or contractor oversight roles.
• Comprehensive expertise in lifting equipment inspection, certification, verification, and management of lifting operations.
• Proven track record in managing critical and heavy lifts alongside risk assessment.
• In-depth knowledge of global lifting codes and regulations such as API, ASME, DNV, ISO, BS, and LOLER.
• Experience in designing and managing lifting assurance, governance, and compliance programs.
• Capability in conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, and managing corrective actions.

Preferred Background

• Previous appointment as Lifting Technical Authority, SME, Head of Lifting, Corporate Advisor, or Senior Specialist in an Oil & Gas Operator environment.
• Experience supporting large brownfield projects and collaboration with Operations teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills.
