About ZeroAvia and the Role

ZeroAvia is at the forefront of zero-emission aviation innovation. We are seeking a seasoned leader to spearhead our hydrogen systems initiatives, including fuel cells, aircraft hydrogen fuel systems, and hydrogen infrastructure. This pivotal role involves guiding technical strategy, development, certification, and industrialisation to revolutionize flight with clean hydrogen technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the development, testing, certification, and deployment of hydrogen fuel cell systems, aircraft hydrogen fuel systems, and hydrogen storage and refuelling ground infrastructure.
• Create and implement technical strategies, architectures, and technology roadmaps for hydrogen and fuel cell solutions across various programs.
• Provide governance and supervisory oversight for systems engineering, including controls, safety, integration, verification, and validation activities.
• Build and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams with a focus on workforce planning, skills enhancement, and succession planning.
• Ensure successful program delivery by managing resources, budgets, timelines, technical risks, and stakeholder expectations effectively.
• Lead certification preparedness and ensure compliance with engineering standards, Design Organisation Approval (DOA) requirements, and aerospace safety protocols.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Chartered Engineer status or a Master's degree is preferred.
• Extensive leadership experience in engineering within aerospace or a comparable highly regulated sector, having led complex system development projects.
• Strong expertise in hydrogen technologies, including gaseous hydrogen storage and distribution; experience with fuel cell integration and hydrogen infrastructure is advantageous.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cryogenic systems, safety management, and preferably liquid hydrogen storage, transfer, and conditioning technologies.
• Comprehensive understanding of systems engineering principles, system integration, requirements management, verification, and validation within safety-critical environments.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities, with proven success influencing technical teams, executives, regulatory bodies, and external collaborators.
