Position Overview

We seek a skilled Graphic Designer to join our team on an hourly basis starting around September 2026. While ideally located in Savannah, GA, flexible remote work arrangements are available. This role suits someone passionate about using graphic design as a narrative tool to shape experiences within physical museum environments rather than traditional print or marketing designs. Daily responsibilities involve creating exhibit graphics like historical photo enlargements and text panels, as well as preparing files for print and fabrication processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design graphics for exhibits including interpretive panels, timelines, and enlarged historical photographs.
• Adhere to predetermined visual identities for various exhibitions.
• Produce artwork ready for large-scale printing and fabrication.
• Collaborate with exhibit designers to seamlessly incorporate graphics into three-dimensional exhibition spaces.
• Prepare design files strictly following fabrication specifications.
• Support image research, photo editing, and integrating illustrations into projects.
• Keep project files well-organized and maintain consistent design standards across multiple assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related discipline (or relevant professional experience).
• Portfolio showcasing skills in typography, layout, and visual storytelling.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong organizational abilities.
• Experience preparing files for large-format printing production.
• Capability to juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to receive guidance, incorporate feedback, and work efficiently in a small creative team.
• Strong time management and a portfolio demonstrating applicable design work.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Background or strong interest in museum, exhibit, environmental, wayfinding, or experiential graphic design.
• Experience working with historical, cultural, or educational content.
