Role Overview

Murphy seeks graduate electrical engineers to collaborate with seasoned site engineers on multidisciplinary construction projects encompassing large-scale civil engineering, rail, water, oil and gas, and electrical upgrade initiatives advancing the green energy transition across Ireland. The graduate program includes comprehensive technical and soft skills training to support professional growth in electrical engineering.

The company emphasizes professional development through an accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program validated by Engineers Ireland.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Precisely setting out work and managing dimensional control on site.
• Supporting testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning processes of electrical systems.
• Assisting in resolving technical issues across various levels.
• Ensuring design drawings and specifications are complete and accurate for construction; proactively requesting missing information to prevent delays.
• Conducting inspections according to the Inspection and Test Plan.
• Generating survey data and red-lined drawings to finalize As-built records.
• Maintaining safety standards by adhering to the Project Safety Plan during activities.
• Keeping accurate records in the Quality Management System.
• Verifying equipment calibration and compliance with company and manufacturer standards.
• Meticulous maintenance of site diaries, documenting dates, locations, and equipment serial numbers.
• Reporting any non-conformances or workmanship issues to senior management.
• Ensuring site staff have clear and relevant information to execute their roles.
• Working closely with Site Foreman/Supervisor and Works Managers.
• Coordinating and supervising subcontractors’ work performance.
• Using only the most recent drawings and documents onsite.
• Ensuring all site materials are appropriate and stored per manufacturers’ and project guidelines.
• Assisting site management with KPIs, progress updates, and material reconciliation.
• Helping Quantity Surveyors with site measurements and monthly valuation preparation.
• Collaborating with senior engineers to design and analyze electrical systems and circuits, ensuring functionality and safety through simulations.
• Preparing technical drawings, specifications, and documentation, while maintaining current design records.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or expected graduation by September 2026.
• Experience in construction is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Demonstrated personal responsibility for professional development.
• Effective teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
