PRI Engineering is hiring a permanent full-time GIS & Remote Sensing Specialist for its Kelowna, British Columbia team. The company is seeking someone with at least 5 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary qualification from an accredited GIS program.

What you will do

Support internal teams and outside clients with GIS and remote sensing work.
Carry out spatial analysis ranging from basic to advanced using vector and raster datasets to support planning, engineering, environmental, and geotechnical assignments.
Assist with design, setup, and mobile data collection workflows across desktop, web, and mobile platforms, including GPS tools and drone-based data capture.
Analyze data, produce maps and reports, and streamline workflows through scripting and programming in tools such as R, SQL, Python, JavaScript, and ArcPy.
Work with GIS and non-GIS colleagues to help prioritize tasks, update datasets, build workflows, and handle a variety of mapping and data requests.
Develop polished cartographic deliverables for both desktop and web use.
Maintain procedures and policies related to data management and programming.

Requirements and qualifications

You must be legally allowed to work in Canada.
You need to have graduated from an accredited GIS program.
You should bring 5 or more years of GIS experience.
Hands-on experience with Esri platforms is essential, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
Strong working knowledge of scripting and technical languages such as Python, R, SQL, ArcPy, JavaScript, HTML, and Power BI is required.
You should have experience configuring Esri mobile data capture tools such as Field Maps and Survey123 for field projects.
Experience publishing sensitive project data through ArcGIS Online and/or Enterprise Portal using custom web maps and applications is needed.
Practical exposure to satellite imagery, airborne LiDAR processing, and remote sensing tools is expected.
Familiarity with open-source GIS tools like QGIS, PostGIS, and PostgreSQL is preferred.
You need strong cartography skills for both desktop and web mapping.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important for explaining complex topics clearly.
You must be highly organized, able to document work well, and capable of managing priorities to meet tight deadlines.
Good problem-solving and analytical ability is required.
Strong attention to detail, solid data analysis and editing skills, and the ability to stay current with technology and work well with others are key.
You should be able to work independently with minimal supervision and also contribute effectively in a team setting.

Nice-to-have background

Education or experience in natural sciences or engineering would be an advantage.
Previous consulting experience would be beneficial.
Experience working with Indigenous Nations and communities is an added asset.
