Gardener 1 - Full-Time Position in Accra, Ghana

About the Role

This full-time gardener role based in Accra, Ghana, requires dedication to maintaining beautiful and healthy church grounds consistent with the landscaping plan. Key Duties

• Mowing lawns with hand and powered mowers while adhering to established landscape designs by planting perennials, shrubs, and trees.
• Trimming and edging around flower beds, walls, and walkways using hand clippers and power edging devices.
• Operating heavy tractors and large power equipment as necessary for landscape upkeep.
• Pruning and sculpting shrubs and trees to optimize plant health and enhance the grounds' aesthetic appeal.
• Applying treatments such as spraying for insect, disease, and weed control along with fertilizers according to relevant regulations.
• Ensuring proper maintenance of all power tools and machinery used on site.
• Directing volunteer helpers in maintaining the church grounds.
• Watering lawns and garden areas as needed.
• Carrying out additional duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills

• Between 2 to 3 years of practical experience in groundskeeping, horticulture, landscaping, or related fields, along with solid knowledge of plants and fertilization methods.
• Competent with light machinery and technology, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong physical stamina capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physically demanding tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
• Minimum education level of Senior High School (SHS) certificate or an equivalent qualification.
• Comfortable and independent user of computers.
• Must hold worthiness for a Temple Recommend.

• Position is based onsite at the Accra Ghana Temple Complex.
