About the Role
AngloGold Ashanti (Iduapriem) Limited, a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Limited, operates the combined Teberebie and Iduapriem open-pit gold mines at Tarkwa in Ghana's Western Region. The company employs over 1,400 personnel including contractors. This permanent position is based in Obuasi within the Mining Department and seeks a dedicated professional to manage all aspects of diesel fuel usage in mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure optimal functioning of the Liquid Automation System (LAS) for fuel management.
- Regularly calibrate the LAS system, compare its reports with planner data, and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with planners and maintenance teams to perform cylinder cut-outs and injector solenoid testing to identify and replace faulty components for fuel efficiency.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of fuel supplied by vendors versus fuel consumed by the mining department.
- Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly reports on fuel efficiency and fuel burn rates for all mobile and fixed assets to key mine stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of policies aimed at reducing fuel consumption across the mine.
- Provide training for operators, pump attendants, and other users on the use of the LAS system, and receive training where applicable.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with hydrocarbons.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP software.
- Strong skills in data analysis and report writing.
- Familiarity with the LAS fuel management system is advantageous.
- Possession of either an Inspection Engineer certificate of competency and/or a Drill and Blast certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Passion for coaching and developing others by sharing knowledge and skills.
- Excellent communication abilities in English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Valid driver's license with competent light vehicle driving skills.
