Job Overview

The Fixed Assets Manager at Dangote Petroleum & Petrochemicals is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing and maintaining the company's fixed asset records and registers. This role ensures accurate accounting of fixed assets within the plant, strictly adhering to the organization’s fixed asset policies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver detailed data for fixed asset reporting, including summarizing financial transactions for the Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE) section in the financial statements.
  • Reconcile the Asset Register regularly. Identify assets that are fully depreciated, marked for impairment, or disposal and initiate the disposal process accordingly.
  • Monitor and review project cost allocations into PPE accounts, ensuring closure of these accounts upon project completion and transfer to the PPE register.
  • Conduct monthly reviews and updates of detailed fixed asset schedules alongside accumulated depreciation records.
  • Collaborate with Headquarters to prepare audit documentation related to fixed assets and assist in handling queries from internal and external auditors.
  • Generate age analysis reports for Construction Work In Progress (CWIP) and seek justifications from responsible budget guardians when necessary.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany and interplant transactions to ensure accuracy.
  • Investigate potential obsolescence of property, plant, and equipment (PPE).
  • Supervise physical verification and reconciliation of fixed assets to maintain asset integrity.
  • Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or closely related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as ACA, CIMA, CPA, or ACCA are required.
  • At least ten years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong insight into trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislation specific to the cement manufacturing sector.
  • Sound knowledge of finance best practices, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and systems, particularly SAP.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated high ethical standards and integrity in professional conduct.
