Role Overview
We seek a motivated Financial Planning Analyst positioned early in their finance career to join our dynamic Commercial Finance team in Oceania. This role supports our expanding Retail and eCommerce divisions by transforming financial data into actionable insights that drive the strategy of a globally renowned sports brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze retail and digital sales, gross margins, labor costs, and operating expenses to monitor performance.
- Compare actual financial results against budgets, forecasts, and previous years.
- Investigate discrepancies and uncover primary drivers of financial performance.
- Contribute to regular performance monitoring reports weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
- Provide insights that inform commercial decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with Retail Operations, Finance leaders, and other stakeholders to understand business performance and spot opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in profitability assessments by store, region, and product category.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, practical business recommendations.
- Support ad-hoc commercial analyses and strategic projects.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, maintaining models and assumptions.
- Track actual results against forecasts and analyze retail trading trends and key performance indicators.
- Construct and maintain commercial finance models, supporting scenario planning and evaluation of investment opportunities.
- Collaborate towards enhancing reporting tools, dashboards, and automating financial processes leveraging Excel, Power BI, and other reporting platforms.
Candidate Profile
- 1 to 3 years of experience in financial planning & analysis, commercial finance, accounting, or related fields.
- Hands-on exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling techniques.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP is considered advantageous.
- Experience with Power BI or comparable business intelligence tools.
- Progress towards or completion of CPA or CA qualifications.
- Background in retail, consumer goods, or fast-moving consumer goods sectors is preferred.
