Overview
We are seeking a commercially savvy Financial Controller to lead the finance operations for an established organisation managing a significant property portfolio and diverse commercial ventures. Reporting to the General Manager, you will drive financial leadership across multiple entities, supporting governance, investment choices, property performance, and sustainable expansion.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire finance function including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and year-end procedures.
- Generate precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage cash flow, enforcement of financial controls, compliance, and audit processes.
- Provide financial oversight and analysis related to a substantial property portfolio.
- Assist in investment evaluations, property development, and business ventures via commercial analysis.
- Deliver financial reports covering hospitality, tourism, and other commercial sectors.
- Lead annual budgeting and long-term financial planning initiatives.
- Maintain robust governance reporting for senior executives and trustees.
- Guide and develop a small finance team, fostering a cooperative workplace culture.
- Establish productive relationships with auditors, banks, external advisors, and key stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Holder of CA, CPA, or similar professional accounting certification.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in senior financial leadership roles such as Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
- Strong command of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance standards.
- Proven ability to manage and elevate finance teams.
- Excellent commercial insight with capacity to offer strategic advice.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel and finance-related software.
- Experience in property, investment, asset management, or complex commercial contexts is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with tikanga Māori and previous work with Māori organisations, trusts, or iwi entities is an advantage.
