Fiber Field Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a Fiber Field Engineer to join our team in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The role involves hands-on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks to ensure high-quality service and network uptime.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute fiber optic cable splicing and jointing tasks with precision.
• Perform comprehensive OTDR testing to detect and analyze fiber faults.
• Maintain and troubleshoot fiber networks to avoid downtime.
• Install, commission, and activate fiber optic communication systems.
• Carry out pole-to-pole fiber cable installation and upkeep operations.
• Collaborate closely with field teams to meet project timelines.
• Adhere rigorously to safety standards during all field activities.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least one year of experience in ISP or fiber telecom operations.
• Practical expertise with fiber splicing machines and OTDR devices.
• Proficient in fiber fault detection and network maintenance protocols.
• Capable of performing fieldwork, including pole-to-pole tasks.
• Immediate availability is preferred.

Additional Technical Knowledge

• FTTH installation and ongoing support.
• Fiber optic fusion splicing techniques.
• Use of Optical Power Meter and Visual Fault Locator tools.
• Fiber cable tracing, fault identification, and rectification methods.
• Installation of joint closures, termination boxes, splitters, FAT, and fiber distribution points/boxes.
• Handling patch cord and pigtail termination.
• Understanding GPON network components such as OLT, ONU, and ONT.
• Reading and interpreting fiber network diagrams and route maps.
• Conducting preventive maintenance to minimize network disruptions.
• Awareness and application of fiber optic safety standards.
• Ability to manage emergency breakdowns and field operations effectively.
