Role Overview

As an Export Control Compliance Specialist based in Riyadh, your primary responsibility will be to ensure all export, re-export, and transfer activities adhere strictly to Saudi Arabian regulations as well as pertinent international trade control laws such as U.S. ITAR/EAR, UK Export Control Orders, and EU Dual-Use Regulations. This role is key to maintaining legal trade compliance and safeguarding sensitive technologies within the Kingdom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee export transactions to ensure full compliance with both Saudi national and international export control regulations.
  • Manage the preparation, maintenance, and administration of export licenses, authorizations, and permits related to controlled goods and technology transfers.
  • Classify items and technologies using ECCN and HS codes, ensuring accurate record keeping of export control data.
  • Review commercial invoices, shipping documentation, and end-use statements for regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain proper export documentation according to required record-keeping standards.
  • Promptly report and investigate any suspected breaches of export control laws, escalating issues appropriately.
  • Conduct due diligence including screening against restricted parties and relevant sanctions lists.
  • Support the internal export control framework, assist with internal audits, and provide guidance on classification to avoid unauthorized exports.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or Law.
  • 4 to 7 years of professional experience specializing in customs and trade compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of Saudi export/import legislation, ZATCA procedures, FASAH customs platform, and key international regulatory frameworks such as ITAR/EAR and UK/EU control regimes.
  • Expertise in import/export compliance tasks, customs clearance processes, HS classification, and duty optimization strategies.
  • Experience performing sanctions and restricted party screening, particularly with Saudi-specific platforms like FASAH, ZATCA, and SASO/SABER.
  • Proficiency working with ERP systems, notably SAP trade and customs modules, along with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Demonstrated skills in regulatory audits, process improvements utilizing Lean or Six Sigma methodologies, and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Fluent in both English and Arabic, combined with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to coordinate across multiple functions.
